Congratulations Adam Jalal, my first PhD student, on sucessfully defending his thesis!!! Well done!!! And thank you Andy and Harry for serving as his examiners.

We say goodbye to our first PhD student, Adam Jalal. He is off to Imperial College to join Dale Wigley lab. All the best, Adam!!! And thank you for the amazing 4 years.

Latest work: we identify a CTP switch that controls membrane-binding activity of the Nucleoid occlusion protein Noc in Bacillus subtilis. CTP is crucial for the formation of a three-way linkage between the chromosome, Noc protein, and the cell membrane.

Fantastic collaborations with Jeff Errington lab, Ling Wu, X-ray crystallography platform (Dave Lawson and Clare Stevenson), and Chemistry platform (Martin Rejzek) at the JIC. Ideas and work has been driven in large part by Adam Jalal.
